...We
wish to work together in the true spirit of cooperation and
mutual respect. (Dr.

ICAT is a worldwide,
unaided Voluntary Support Group for tobacco control. It is also
a sponsored member of INGCAT
(International Non-Governmental Coalition Against Tobacco)
France, and works in wholesome harmony to complement the common
cause of curbing the growing menace of tobacco hazards.
SUPPORT
GROUP
ICAT is a support group to any activity
for Tobacco Control, happening more specifically in the
developing world. Extending support to Public demonstrations,
advocacy, strengthening and collating regional anti-tobacco
campaigns, unifying isolated anti-tobacco activities in a region,
are some of the highlight-aims ICAT is working on.
Involving Children and Youth in this movement is one of the
chief aims of ICAT. For seeking their participation in the
campaign, ICAT conceives student-interest activities on
anti-tobacco theme and simultaneously disseminate information
about tobacco hazards.
To lobby for legislations, public opinion and forming a
political consensus to ban tobacco sponsored events, misleading
tobacco promotion campaigns, sale or free distribution of
tobacco products to minors.
PREVENTION: this is an important area where ICAT wants to
promote international, national and regional initiatives
involving non-smokers movements. The principal initiative on
this front is the "NON SMOKERS RIGHTS DAY".
